A Friend

A friend is a strong light-post Standing supportive And lighting your way for you A friend is like the moon Always there for you And strongest when nearest A friend understands you well Listens to your cries As well as your joys and victories A friend is like a hickory tree Supplying food when you need it And burns hot, when you are cold A friend sits alongside you Even when you are wrong And supports you endeavors nonetheless A friend is longstanding Like the light-post Ever radiant and giving free light A friend is always there for you No matter what you have done And will always be your friend No matter the disguise you have on!
