A Force That Cannot Be Reckoned With

I dissipate boundaries, eat away the hills Wipe out your youth, break it down at will A master of erosion, permanence I do hate My name is entropy, dictator of all fate Whatever you build, or creation has made I’m already within, to make sure order fades A force of nature, an inescapable truth Go do the math, I’m in every square root Encoded into reality, to eradicate design I’ll randomise the cosmos, given enough time Before you condemn, I’m life’s antihero Without my chaos, all sums would total zero By David Kavanagh

Perhaps we should all go around wearing the Greek blue evil eye, meant to ward off evil from oneself. All Greeks wear one, i wear a small one on my watch, more of a superstition than a belief, I'm sure Russian Orthodox people belief in it and a great deal of Eastern Europe and South American countries - clever - I'm life's antihero! Blessings and hugs Jennifer

Thank you for all your wonderful comments today Jennifer, Entropy itself does the voiceover here, superstition is so difficult to define, I totally get it to a certain degree, some people cannot walk out there door without doing some rituals, that’s when it can become problematic and obsessive, the blue eye emblem can be quite ornate on jewellery and accessories, cheers David

Thanks for the visit David, everything turns to a chaotic state, eventually but so long as life sticks around there will be some order in the pack, cheers David

Wow, this poem actually took my breath away...not especially for its beauty, but for its message and its flawless construction. So much truth herein lies!

Thanks Milton, one of those forces of nature that creep up on us inexorably, I’m delighted with your comments on my poem construction, oxymoronic for a poem about deconstruction lol, cheers David

Certainly does Tom, a bit like my dog, leaves everything in chaos, then walks away lol, but I suppose on the plus side, new born life slows entropy down temporarily, at least to the eyes of the beholder, cheers David
