A Fairy Has To Face It-Collaboration

Once upon a time when I was a little girl I knew the sun fairy quite intimately It SEEMS SO LONG AGO since I was UP EARLY For day breaks first kiss of sunlight I bathed in the sparkling dew and cast gold dust over sun’s first rays To wake the flowers and start the birdsong Then watching in the gentle light As sleepyheads start to toss, FULL OF PEP, arise I’d follow winding paths to wake the apples Find the gardens already stretching I’d twirl about with the adrenaline of wakefulness Oh, BUT I DID LOVE THEM, those EARLY MORNINGS long ago I’M PAST MY PRIME now, as fairies go And another has taken my ethereal sun wings To dance with sunbeams in a tango for two For contest Collaboration Sponsored by Line Gauthier Written: 8-6-2019

I love fairy tales, fairies and fairy tale land - I always did and I guess I always will - writing poetry is such a wonderful escapism from reality - we can immerse ourselves into any era, character or situation! Love your poem. Hugs, Jennifer.
