A Day of Clarity

Longing for an absence of thought deep in the night. . . sleep became my godsend in the weeks since I'd received the words, "You have cancer." I never had felt sick, and the surgery last year went well! But then they did a test right after surgery which showed I was at risk for cancer to return to me. They suggested I also have chemotherapy before my radiation. I agonized on what to do, for I could not accept the fact my body would be poisoned for prevention’s sake only. I prayed on my knees to God, "What should I do?" Two days before the port would be put inside my chest, the answer came to me as if from God. A neighbor who it turns out was a doctor familiar with research into cancer led me to others who helped me forge the path that I would ultimately take. I would still do radiation, but there were other things to try in case more cancer cells remained inside me. I was led to talk to other doctors and to a renowned scientist who gave me other options. I never will forgot that Saturday I canceled my appointment with the surgeon and forged my own new path. It was a day of clarity for me. For Cindi Rockwell's The day that changed my life forever in a POSITIVE way

I wonder if your little voice was adamant and voiced its no for you to hear and feel? A tough decision, a decision of much weight yet you were decisive once you had marinated on the issue. That takes strength. I am loving these poems, but they are growing a great need in me to hug you ... CayCay

No wonder that Constance put this "heart on the sleeve" poem first in the line. It is so good, and reveals your courage to share what will help others to cope, and stand up against the disease. Many good wishes!!!

I know I shouldn't be making a second comment, but the poem is really that good -- and, how else can I roll-out my first lucky 7. ;-)

Yes, this is true. I am feeling so happy with my recent decision. I AM still doing radiation finally getting started next week. ( I am not sick at all, it's all for "prevention" of my aggressive type cancer that was removed in july, hopefully it had stayed only in the tumor)

"Clarity"is an empowering, strengthing word..it represents "choice" and puts you in the "driver's seat" of your own life, to "decide" and "choose"what you feel is best for you. A deeply personal piece, I am moved by your courage to write such a heartfelt poem about your "truth". There is nothing more beautiful than the freedom to "choose"..the exception being..a woman who "chooses"...that...is true beauty and you "own it" Andrea :-) :-) I respect and admire your courage. Bravo :-) blessings xxx

Stay away from breads, pastas (Carbohydrates) and dairy. Stick to nuts, fruits, veggies and lean meats. You'd be surprised how much diet can help. :-)

Wonderful write, as per usual, a friend of my wife had cancer, they gave her round after round of chemo and it was the chemo that killed her she was 54. Good choice! Great poem!
