A Day In My Life

Just a day in my life, So there I was, after being at home for a year stepping into a community centre With no experience, just my wit and big mouth from being a secretary, a position of project coordinator was created so little me, could hone my skills… The most rewarding part would have to be The privilege of working with abused women their stories were scary, sometimes crying with them seemed to be the best option To comfort them, words were never enough but in the end they stepped out, Some went back into the situation, While others who stayed strong became the success stories, My sincere hope is that those that went back, have been empowered to know That it’s not supposed to be that way... Contest: The Work You Do Placed: 3rd

I still remember how impressed I was upon knowing what you do and I still am-- reading into a day in your life reminded me just how tough your day could be... so ok I will be kinder now, as long as you send Mr. Sandman my way ok?? Haha kidding-- no honestly-- your work is sure so worthwhile and it is just awesome to be able to help abused women that way, I pray that their empowerment will wake them up and help them realize just how strong they are! Kudos to you Ms. Neels :) hugs

Very nice, Wilma! Thank you for supporting my contest with this revealing poem. I hate it when women return to their abusers. It's a cycle of violence that too often goes unbroken. God bless you for trying to help these women see reality. Love, Carolyn

Wilma, It is very rewarding work to know you are making a difference in women's lives and showing them there is a way out and the gift of empowerment. My oldest daughter teaches abused children. They are blessing to you as you are to them. I enjoyed your words. Blessings, Connie
