A Cry Is a Cry Is a Cry
A cry is a cry is a cry
I would not say
for cries are all different
in so many ways
All happy and merry
one cry is of joy
another's in anguish
Is it the 'real McCoy'
One cry is a warning
another's in terror
"Watch out for the snake"
-- You hope it's an error
One cry is a baby's
the other's an old man's
Be they helpless or feeble
They each need a hand
A voice cries out for help
Someone's lost in the woods
Your answering cry heard
surely does his soul good
Yet the ultimate cry
I've saved for the last
It's the cry of elation
when new lovers cling fast
