A Creative Act

You write a poem and send it out And hope somebody reads it, For that’s what posting’s all about, Though really, no one needs it. Since doing a creative act Is for the one creating And even if the odds are stacked Against you, life is waiting. So take your talent from the shelf Where maybe it’s been hidden And do a favor to yourself By sharing it, unbidden.

So, so true, Ilene. I wrote long before I discovered Soup and so truly wrote for me and me alone. Soup has given me cause to watch my punctuation and gramma (although I’ll happily write deliberately bad gramma) and also that great feeling when even one person enthuses over what I’ve written. This is a POTD contender in my book. Terry

Certainly, true Irene. If a person is writing poetry for fortune or fame, then they will be sadly disappointed. I consider it an honor if someone likes my work enough to follow me. A few good friends that understand what I'm saying is my happy spot.

We may yet to turn our talents into Pulitzers, but you've at least revealed yours from your hidden shelves for others to admire. As the man entrusted his talents to us, I think you've more than doubled your share by your exposition unbidden. Our voice is not ours to own, but to share. Thank you.
