A Cosmic Dance
Earth, a blue marble hung on black,
is fired in a kiln of sun rays.
And twirls in its orbital track,
glazed in swirls of ivory haze.
Its seas freeze, and continents drift,
both poles anchored in ice and snow.
And when its tilted axis shift,
the change in seasons starts to show.
In the fabric of time and space,
the sun's unquenchable flame burns.
And the moon, with Her pitted face,
lights up the Night as the Earth turns.
Swirling around at stellar speed,
galaxies form from gas and dust.
And humanity sows its seed
in jetsam of the big-bang thrust.
Spinning between Venus and Mars,
Earth's held in gravity's expanse.
And tethered to trillions of stars,
it wobbles in a cosmic dance.
