A Cherished Melody Brought Back To Life In An Acapella Form

Jesse Winchester was a not so known famous Singer and songwriter who wrote many hits. His songs were recorded by Don Henley, Jimmy Buffet, The Everly brothers, and other famous singers. One of his famous songs that did not get the recognition it deserved was Sham A Ling Dong Ding. Elvis Costello did a stage concert on Youtube and Jesse Winchester sang this song. People were left in tears. Well soon a quartet did the song and its harmonies brings you to a heartfelt place as the songs words play. First go to YouTube and listened to Jesse Winchester song Sham A Ling Dong Ding performed on stage with Elvis Costello. After hearing and taking in the meaning and harmony of the song then go to YouTube and type in Sham A Ling Dong Ding Doubledouble qurartet and listen to their rendition of this song in Acapella. Truly amazing... Jesse Winchester's music will live on. Also here are a few hits from Jesse. I wave bye bye, Little glass of wine, Tennessee Waltz, and many others. Inspired by Jack Ellison Poem Acapella Groups. Michael Tor

well now, that was sure nothing like My Ding a Ling, a song my stepdad loved to hear me play on my record player . I went to listen to the writer of the song and I really loved his way of singing it. So sweet and mild like those balladeers from the 60's and 70's, there were so many great soft singers back then. Just beautiful, Michael.

Very informative work. I will have to look it up. I enjoyed reading this one. The name of the song reads like it came during my years of growing up. LOL..Songs like "I Told The Witch Doctor I Was In Love With You", "How High's The Water Momma", etc. LOL..I looked up the lyrics to the song and it is a very good poem. Your visit to my page added a new dimension. Sara

You did a fantastic job penning this, Michael. It made me think of certain earlier encounters and occurrences. Without a question, smiling came from remembering such incredible events. It's literally enabling history's acoustics to overflow into a magical feeling of these lovely eras uttering uplifting choruses, which is very amazing. Best regards my friend.

When a singer talks to our hearts with his songs, it doesn't matter if he is well-known or not for he is number one for us. I do not know him but the way you talk about this gentleman shows your appreciation for his music. Very informative. my dearest friend, Michael. Be blessed!

Nicely written, Michael. Brought back some old memories for me. I was familiar with Winchester's songs, but not his name. We most often associate a song with its singer, naturally.
