A Change of Heart

A drop of water fell on me
not one, but two, then three...

Ready to curse the skies and Thee
    in barehead selfishness, admittedly

When a blade of grass came up to me
    with his heartfelt, poignant plea

  'Without water, Sir, you see
I simply no longer will be'

My eyelids wet, but not from rain
I put him down on my lawn again

Lifted my hands, my palms spread wide
'Let the heavens gush forth,' my joyful cry

Whoa, you went back in time for this one, Mike. Thank you!!! 'Course, the flip side is --- nothing much worthwhile in the last 31 days. Heh-heh. I'll keep trying though... Have a picturesque Wednesday, sir!

What may not be of benefit to some is life-giving to others. A beautiful couplet; thank you, Gershon.

Thank you so much for the 'favorite' ranking -- from one of my all-time favorite commenters, Michael. ~ Playing favorites (Hey, I used to be a teacher; goes with the territory, although most will deny it).

Heidi, thank you so much for the FAVE. It's taken me a whole month to calm down from my excitement about it, as you can see. (Today is 11/9). Keep smiling, gw

When something becomes a matter of survival for one, we have to allow it though it may cause us a temporary inconvenience. Without rain and water a small weed or grass cannot survive. Love the message, this poem embodies!

Seeing life through the eyes of another, whether a person or thing, is an experience of enlightenment. Feeling remorse and acting upon it, is love. Your heart is showing through your poetry, my dear friend. Write On! Bill

Uh-oh. My heart is showing again. At least last time it was on my sleeve. In my poetry is a better cover for lub-dub. Smiles for miles, gw
