I've never twitted on Tweeter nor am I an Instagrammarian I've searched on Goggle but cannot find MyFace I ask it "how do I change the oil in my car?" and get 570,000,000,000,000 hits so I go make some toast and eat lunch at least I can work a toaster my kids think I was born in the Jurassic era for I speak of phones with cords that came out of a wall and TV stations with 4 channels to choose between I feel like I'm swabbing the deck on a Byzantine sailing ship I don't know url's from www's, or http's from html's my mobile phone tries to auttocronect my thumb typing and cyber censors block my search for 'penal colonies' So I walk to my neighborhood park and ...lie on the grass ...stare at the blue sky ...pet my neighbor's schnauzer ...feed peanuts to the squirrels ...imagine shapes in the clouds ...watch the sun set and the moon rise The cyber world is an amazing supersonic ride but the great outdoors is my landing strip and I've just touched down

Wow, a 6-point poem! Going for the extra point now... BTW, is grassy knoll related to Chuck Noll? (thanks, gw)

I remember when you had to be home to get a call (shocking) - and busy signals! When was the last time you heard one? Ah, the good old days - and I agree, being outside beats 'virtual' reality any day~

Thank you for your trip down memory lane. Because my first TV was black and white, I tell my kids I was born before color was invented ;-)

Oh yes! And if you have a love alongside you, even in solitude you live a double blessing.

Masterful write, John! About all I know about computering is how to turn it on and off - beyond that all these other gizmos are beyond me. In other words my understanding of such is not very well understood!! - Bob

Love the humour John, nothing beats the great outdoors though. But how the world has come on in a short space of time, when I was growing up we had bbc and atv channels, just two and black and white at that. Many inventions have come from sci fi books and movies and inventors have been inspired to create them, they say the ipad was inspired by 2001 a space odyssey and mobile phones from Star trek. They're working on a beam me up device that will one day make planes and the like redundant. What worries me is the weapons that are being developed like a death ray, already lasers are being fitted to fighter planes. Man is becoming too clever for his own good and will eventually destroy all mankind. Tom

Good morning, John. Your humor is priceless, and for all the good found in cyber world connections, none of them can compare with connecting to blue skies, sunshine, and the reality of nature. The only tweeting you'll hear there is from birds.

Thank you for your warm words, Jenna. Your tweeting comment made me smile, I should have thought to include that in this poem, it would have been perfect! I appreciate your friendship here at Soup ~ John
