A book and my daughter

To give a book away To someone t’me is rage, It’s like giving away My daughter in marriage. If I visit that man And find my book tattered, It’d get my heart shattered. Oh, what terrible dread To find, she was wedded Alas to a wrong man. __________________ Reflections |05.11.2024|book, daughter Poet’s note: When I found one of my books in a tattered condition and discarded in a corner, I felt terrible. This small piece was born off my deep reflections on it.

This poem is excellent! It conveys a deep emotional connection to the act of giving away something precious, like a book or a daughter. The comparison between giving away a book and a daughter in marriage is powerful, showing protective love and fear of loss. The use of vivid imagery, like a tattered book and a wrong marriage, expresses the dread of seeing something cherished mistreated. The poem captures both the tenderness and the anxiety of letting go, offering a heartfelt reflection on love and the significance of what is entrusted to others. P.S. Don't worry Daada, your daughter is in good hands.
