A Birthday Message (For Od)
The little acorn has become a tree
Magnificient in the storm
It's xylem hard ... a strong heart shelters me
The little drip a great river, meets the sea
Washes the soil from my farm
To the delta of its glee, I dream free
The empty hands, the broken nest, the pea
In the nose, my dazed alarm
The little bird has flown away from me
And now squinting at the sky, only see
The diamond in its arm
And the wings circling it, brightened by glee
On this your birthday, I fall to my knee
Praying you won't come to harm
As you fly away, son, forgetting me.
