A Beating Heart

I recall how we once strolled
together; how our hands met,
firmly clasped, yet gentle, as
would two puzzle pieces we fit –

Saw the greater picture...the
landscape mountains, then down
life's slopes, our sparse valleys
far greener than others for the
closeness we shared. We were
a true panorama when it came
to matters of love. No Gable and
Leigh~ just real, from head to
foot. Alive with all scents of
leisure and labor, the pungent
aroma of the many worldly
atmospheres inhaled, we moved
as one despite their differences, never
alone even when briefly parted.
               Time, of course,
is merely, a soulless counter...
oblivious of human passions
unregulated. Oh, to give Time
a beating heart! Then love would only
start, start, and start....

A romantic journey through life ! I feel you are becoming more and more a bard of love. Both of you on a leisurely stroll with your hands firmly clasped ! Don't ever loosen the grip. I visualize a happy pair rambling through the vales and hills, holding hands and enjoying the beauty of the magical surroundings. Indeed a delight .... both the experience and the poem.

Hi Valsa; I love that! "Bard of Love!"~ Should we not all be, when being Bard or simply cleaning streets, reflections of love?! Thank you so much for such an inspiring comment. Blessings my friend.

Thank you, Vie. I try my best to be sensitive and alive. Real. I have many failures. Lots of regrets. Lots of apologies I owe. Now, I would love to read your story! I would be honored.

The King of romance. Loved the way you began your life together, with hands entwined. Great poem.

Hi Victor; coming from an outstanding writer as yourself, a positive comment is precious. Blessings my friend! You know, writing from the heart is less Truth and Honesty, and mostly romance. One who reads poetry, really understands poetry, can tell if love went into the work. Can tell if heart and soul are invested in the write. Shakespeare only wrote with a general vocabulary of about 550 words. Who's counting? Can anyone tell?

I think all poets are romantic...some more than others, but poetry, music, are languages of the heart. Thank you for your continued encouragement. Blessings my friend.

I can see the two of you strolling through the fields of the Tara Plantation. What a splendid poem Joe, and then to end such rapture giving time a heartbeat. Imaginative and totally endearing. Has to be a favorite of mine.

Thank you, Wen; I can't always write far-out stuff, as I am inclined to unconsciously do -- I think all writers of poetry have a marshmallow heart. Love them!
