A Beating Heart
I recall how we once strolled
together; how our hands met,
firmly clasped, yet gentle, as
would two puzzle pieces we fit –
Saw the greater picture...the
landscape mountains, then down
life's slopes, our sparse valleys
far greener than others for the
closeness we shared. We were
a true panorama when it came
to matters of love. No Gable and
Leigh~ just real, from head to
foot. Alive with all scents of
leisure and labor, the pungent
aroma of the many worldly
atmospheres inhaled, we moved
as one despite their differences, never
alone even when briefly parted.
Time, of course,
is merely, a soulless counter...
oblivious of human passions
unregulated. Oh, to give Time
a beating heart! Then love would only
start, start, and start....
