Memory Sifting
Memory Sifting
(a waste of precious time)

Sometimes I feel forced, by age,
To sift through memories of my past,
Often finding today’s clock intermittently suspended.
My recall, once in hues, has morphed into black and white,
Existing now, from shadows, are few faces,
And I only detect ambiguous whispers.
A Past can be beastly and only devours my present time.
Earlier footprints are telltale signs, that reveal where I’ve walked,
And often, where others have no need to go;
