Lying In a Very Large Bed
she was young, naïve and spry
he was old with money
entertaining
and sly
with
he said a very
very big heart
the maid made the bed
the master
he said had compassion
for his family
and others less fortunate
and out of duty
he made the maid
the next day
they found the maid
dead in legislation
so called
heart failure
and the master
stressed out
but he said
in very good shape
lying
in a very large bed
unmade
waiting
for another maid-en
you may ask why
so much stress
with so many things to do
the answer from some
while lying
in bed
is more is
better than none
but
after all they say
compassion for one’s
fellow men
and women
trumps
lying
awake
thinking of one’s fun-ds
and we do want to do our part
