-last Dance-
Poetry Day #3: Arabian Sonnet
Last Dance
I saw you standing all alone, watching the others dance away,
Tears in your eyes as you stand on the stairs, your mind astray.
I step up the stairs; my dear, what caused your heart’s fray?
You try to say it’s alright, but I see that you’re feeling grey.
I reach out my hand to your surprise, but let’s try to dance,
I’ll hold you tight, so don’t give your problems another glance.
Whispering sweet little nothings in your ears as we prance,
As we step in rhythm, you’ll learn to love this short romance.
The song slowly ends and the people turn to give a hand,
To the people that have played music in a place so grand.
But as the hour reaches midnight, this good thing must end.
I bow to you, my lady, for giving me such a sweet night’s kiss,
Knowing that I’ll never see you again, my heart’s in an abyss.
The woman that I saw smile so sweetly, it’s you I will reminisce.
