-emerald-

-Daily Poetry #9, February 6, 2017- Word: Emerald You are one of a kind, a beautiful emerald that shimmers so sweetly, So I know I'm nothing but a fool to think you'd like me. I'm just a dull onyx, a black stone with no desirable trait, Because I have no appeal, no one would want me in this state, And for that, I am filled with bitter hate. Why do you smile at me? A gem that is ugly compared to you? Even though I can say nothing but insults, you always see them through. Your deep green eyes shimmer in the light, Though they must be filled with nothing but hate, they're a lovely sight. When I see your eyes, I can never put up a fight. “We all start out the same way”, you say that to me, Though I try and say “That can't possibly be,” You're always there by my side, you won't ever flee. “When night comes, you're a truly beautiful stone, Your dark eyes reflecting the moon, and then, I see that you're just alone, But I love you for you, my precious onyx stone.” I saw it then, you may reflect the sun with beautiful shades of green, But when the night comes, it's my eyes that set the scene. Because of you, a beautiful green emerald, I see that I'm not alone, I may be an onyx, but we all are start out the same, every stone.
