Each Man
Each Man
Each man walks upon a ground
where self-interred, the storms
and toys he entertained will not
accommodate the heaven he thought
might lurk behind the gray horizon
far away. Not so.
Closer is his tomb. Now every man
is his own channel to the path
beneath his feet. Each
excites the tremors in his body;
each may bear his paradise,
and no one comes between. In all
the universe at hand there lies
both gain and loss defining every
height and depth humanity will
ever know. It is for man; it is
for destiny. It calls upon
the keepers of the feast to wake
the frozen sentinels on watch,
alert them to prepare, that love
is on the way and they
are both the honored guests
and masters of the dance.
