8 Years Old

In a blink, dot of ink Your childhood, now, a stain I was just a fool, to think Innocence would remain A picture show Heart tugging song I pretend to know Where 8 years have gone Yesterday, I rhymed a rhyme You were turning 4, too soon A teardrop fell, for every line While wrapping up my tune Today came, I feel numb Just as I was told Yesterday, you were 4 years young Today, you’re twice as old

Our son is 27 and it seems like yesterday he was a teenager and the day before just two years old. This piece expresses the passing of time so well. Each age offers a gift, enjoy them all.

Your poem flows with the beat of a mother's heart and the words say everything...evoking thoughts within the reader's consciousness that places them in the moment. Emile.
