2nd place in the contest

The night was unbearably barren and cold - annihilated details of the celestial bodies Stars flung away by just a roar Purple moon split as cardboard ... crumbled as a moth The comet's tails were set on fire catastrophic flames raged through the night Naked marble statues with empty eyes that don't flinch left behind the smell of aged conditioner and sweat Their existence consequently cannot be recognized Is the key of the present bound to the past ? Their embrace instantly endeared me broken hearts marbles lost the match A dream I will never be able to document I slept under the haunted night lamp no princesses attended the ball - don't kill my hero

I love the descriptive language and the flow of this. I especially loved the opening lines, drew me right in. Hauntingly poetic and deeply moving! You’ve written very well for dream! Thank you for writing. CONGRATULATIONS.

This is scary, and yet, those marble statues, so sad, a reflective glance which truly have a haunting affect on one's dreams. I saw one in San Francisco when I was little, I remember it yet, and it actually deeply affected me as a child and made me cry, because I couldn't help shaking the fact that the child the statue depicted was of a little girl that looked like my baby sister. The real child had lived well over a hundred years before. This is so emotive, it brought back that distant memory.

A powerful tale. There has to be something that falls between a sweet dream and a nightmare.

Anne-Lise, your writing truly evokes a spine-chilling sensation. It reminds us that not every dream can have a happily-ever-after, as your words paint a vivid portrait of two terrifying nightmares. BOL with the contest

Dreams are strange things. We create them.. Well no one else does ? Yet we cant control them ! I love it Anne-Lise. There is such relatable truth in your poem. The last line proves the fact that we are not in control with the plea "Don't Kill my hero !" This is distinctly different and very well written. BOL.

- Dreams can be influenced from the outside ... which makes a deep impression ... (death, violence, extreme weather, sounds and smells ....) - children today are very influenced by the games of the computer world ... - Many thanks for your comments,S.V. :) - hugs

A superb penning of a top two of nightmares. (I’d probably rank Dante’ Inferno as#1). Are U old enough to have practiced air raid drills in school? I recall them from 2nd grade. They don’t expose much abt it, but the arms build up in space is scary stuff, like your powerful poem! Where is the hope? I wonder. Peace 2 U, sally

Don't kill my hero, please. I like this. I have written a number of apocalyptic poems but not sure if I'll repost. Btw, my dreams are often scary
