The Bath

I finally took a bath
   this morning
After all day yesterday
   Sunday
With the taste of you
   still on my mouth,
The scent of you in all
   the rooms
   and on my couch.
Ache inside my belly.

I dialled; you said
   "Hello," and I hung up,
   yet commanding all day
Phone to ring
   or doorbell, perhaps
   the slow hiss of tires
On gravel
   and watched my mind
Replay a scene
   that must have been
   destruction.

It's quiet in the dark of
   country town.

I took a bath this morning.

I love the quiet in the dark of a country town. The man walking and a slight nod or a gentle wave as he carries on. You have a nice style and I’ll enjoy some more reading Patrick

Thank you, Patrick, really kind of you. Yes, I've always felt that rural total darkness as a presence almost tangible. Elizabeth

This is intriguing, yet at the simultaneously semi-hilarious, at least to me. ~ Shower-Boy

Everything is hilarious and ambiguous here at the height of civilization. Thank you Wolf man.
