While visiting the ATM after hours, found a sheet someone left on the furniture with the following info. It inspired the accompanying limerick. It's amazing how long it takes and how much work goes into finding a happy place after torture. Thought it would be nice to pass this along.

Who takes brain hits diabolic? The child of an alcoholic! With the mind’s botox Pain’s now in a box Not flummoxed the kid can frolic

Thanks Janice. The things we have to do to become whole after being traumatized seem like a lot during the process. The happiness and wonder we feel through healing are magic indeed. I’m so glad you liked this.

Another excellent limerick poem, Duke, examines the influence of alcoholism on a child's psyche, emphasizing how trauma is frequently concealed or restrained, allowing the youngster to engage in life despite underlying suffering. It also addresses the effects of having an alcoholic parent and the child's coping methods, implying that suffering can be compartmentalized, allowing for some sense of normalcy.

SP, there are so many people hurting. Isn’t it nice that there’s a pathway for healing. Hard to think about all the suffering that has come from abuse and all the behaviors that need to be addressed. The list seems pretty comprehensive. We’d be in great shape if a smart phone could replace an alcoholic parent. I’m not expecting that to happen.

Poof at 80 proof! Kids, wives... who so ever lives with or loves an alcoholic is abused in some manner or another.

Lin…no question about it. Alcohol tends to loosen one’s grip on self control. A lot of really bad things happen once someone goes over the edge. We try to steer clear.

Jan, sad that happened to an innocent person. Lucky she got adopted by a caring person. It's rather incredible how destructive addition can be. Take care and smiles!!! Be well!!
