New Year Old Wishes

she sits alone in her moonlit room
outcast, as if from society
a shadow mimics her moves

twigs beneath the breeze
shake like fingers
grasping
at nothingness

she hears footsteps
falling soft
yet quick
like strokes
on a keyboard
pressing on
as if echoes
in her head
resurrect old wishes
 of a hidden muse
that once whispered
louder than the bellows
of january's cold wind

yet silence falls
like shadows
beneath the crimson rise
of dawn

Ok, I've Nancy Drew'd all the evidence I can find about you, you disappeared 9-23 and I went quiet 4-22. I explain why in 2025, poem called 'my soup disappearance reason'. I miss you, want to know your reason. Know u weren't dealt an easy hand ... I'm concerned/I care. This poem is evidence of your special talent, your unique light and you need to know how missed both are. CayCay

Sandy, honored that your pen was awakened for this...you always have a way of sneaking in the side door, like a breeze from some cracked window, undetected/forgotten, until the shiver hits your neck...you could have used softly and quickly, but instead, I think soft & quick emphasize the staccato of the strokes on the keyboard---so much here is borne so subtly - that is your simple, yet complex gift!

Thank you Edward...i guess hectic life got in the way of my muse, she sleeps more than she is awake... and even when awake time doesn't always allow her to sing! Thank you for your kind words :) hugs
