Joyful

I went to a land of little
A place of lovely smiles
Candle sticks and butter cups
Clothes of many styles

She gazed at me
With crinkled eyes
She said “you’re just a boy”
“But, I”m all of sixty four”
“So what, embrace your joy.”

Tiny hands and tiny feet
Flowing yellow hair
She flew about as fairies do
I couldn’t believe that she was there

The path before me
Stones and grass
The air it smelt so sweet
Butterflies with glowing eyes
Guided me to a seat

Animals and people too
Even Tiny tinker tots
Danced about with such glee
Amidst the Forget me nots

My problems shrunk to little
As I grew in joy
Sixty four’s just a number
After all, I'm just a boy.

All lines titillate with perfect, crisp, snapping, get-the-reader's-poetry-blood-flowing, ideal brevity lines. You may have seen me getting high on a poem page here & there, well, now I've got a poetry adrenaline buzz right here, right now. 1 wee exception, 4 line, 3 stan - doesn't stand up to talent in other stanzas TO ME. One yesterday that was years ago, you suggested I switch 2 lines, and I was appreciative You were right; it read better. Truly love the poem. Poetry hugs ... CayCay

This was pure magic, Richard. Such a beautiful reminder that joy knows no age, and wonder can still live in us no matter the number. The imagery felt like a dream—light, free, and full of life. Absolutely loved it!

what a delightful poem, Richard! I like the hint of childhood fantasy entwined with adulthood fancy. Perhaps we're all children at heart at this point? Outstanding! wishing you a pleasant evening, Sara

Compared to the age of the universe we really are quite young, even though we may not feel like it. Fun, whimsical write
