Free Verse On Love
impassioned thoughts linger
against the ivory folds of my flesh
with the same tones of dawn's sky
whenever you cross my mind
my heart still skips a beat
like an old forty-five
whenever our song comes on
and you sing along
with that look
of content
in your eyes
i get lost in the depths
of your gaze
as they catch mine
aglow like stars of night's skies
your voice
fades to whispers
falling soft
warmth against flesh
like a summer's breeze
its gentle touch
arouses me
i surrender
beneath the arcs
that bridge our souls
together in rhythmic pulses
of love's heartbeat
where breaths
momentarily
become breathless
again
there's nowhere
i'd rather be
than in the curls
of your arms
lingering
in the passion
of your kiss
as i drift
like a winded cloud
to sleep
