A Triad of Haiku I

Last year's leaves long blown; Soon new leaves will fade and fall. Years fade...fall as leaves. -------------------------------------- A proposal made On Shiroyone's terraces; Rice is patient too. ------------------------------------- I awoke too late, You left before the dew came; The stars went with you.

The first one reminds us that time won't wait for anyone. Time brings decay and renewal and with the flow of time, years too glide. The last one is the best.'the stars went with you'....! No surprise as no one waits for a late comer! Great haikus , dear friend.

She may have taken the stars but all three haikus shine bright. Truly enjoyed, John. Poetry hugs ... CayCay (I don't read you often enough, no reason for it = just the way my mouse clicking around Soup has gone, or rather, not gone, pls know that)

I like these. They remind me of some of those written in Japan that have been translated so I could read them. Thanks for sharing. Sara K

I must confess John I do not believe I’ve seen you write haiku’s before but no matter the form your writing is exceptional!;)

Thank you, Brenda Lee. If I was a betting man, I would strongly suspect, out of the three, the third one is probably your favourite. :) john

Beautiful depictions of natural life. Though the stars still shine on you. Blessings, John.

Thank you, Sara. Yes...it would seem, by popular vote, that the last is the most appealing. :) john

I preferred the first one myself when I first composed them...but I now think more like you, Andrea. :) john

Thanks, Anne-Lise. Like I mentioned to Kim...the first one is probably the best if you look at it from a structural point of view...but the third one is fast becoming my favourite. :) john

Thank you, Kim. I have to confess...I think it is undoubtedly my best effort also. Probably ticks most of the boxes to very nearly qualify as a true haiku. Hopefully. :) john
