I am away from my dear home town

A song series on the Freedom Struggle of India based on my father Dr. Amar Nath Kapoor’ (1998 to 1994) Epic “Patradoot” written in 1930 published on Poetry Soup in 2010. Inspired by the famous Harry Belafonte’s song "Jamaica Farewell". The song series would be mainly in English with a Hindi version of the song too.

Part 1 of Song in Text which I hope to sing soon on my You Tube channel.

.
The first song-
.
I am away,
From my dear home town,
Where the sun greets me,
Every morning, and every evening,
The golden rays of Sun,
Spread its smiles on those
Who fight for the freedom
Of their motherland. 01
.
The Sun shines in my hometown,
in full bloom,
And dances every morning n evening,
On the tunes of moving waves,
And It glitters all along,
On the shrine of Triveni’s Sangam. 02 2nd Song in next part 2

.
.
Hindi lines of the English song in Hinglish
.
main door hoon,
apne pyaare grah nagar se,
jahaan suraj meraa swaagat kartaa hai,
har subah aur har shaam,
jahaan surya kii sunahri kirnen,
un par apnii muskaan bikherti hain,
Jo apnii maartrbhumi kii aazadi ke liye ladte hain. 01

mere grah nagar men suraj chamakta hai,
puri tarah se khil kar,
aur har subah shaam nritya kartaa hai,
machalti lahron kii dhun par,
aur yah har samay chamaaktaa rahtaa hai,
trivenii sangam ke tirth par. 02..........................2nd Song in next part 2

It is wonderful that you loved your country and the area of that country from which you came. I am sure it was a wonderful place to live and grow up. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us. Sara K

like how you painted that picture of your hometown with the sun, the waves, and the freedom fighters — it feels warm and full of pride. Also cool that you did a Hindi version too, makes it feel even more real and personal.
