Which Hill Will You Climb

If your choice is to climb the higher hill
You’ll need more supplies and a stronger will
For as you climb supplies will diminish
And some will be needed when you finish

If you’re looking for fun and a small thrill
You’ll find it better to choose a small hill
Choose one you can top in just a short span
With several trails up you won’t need a plan

Remember to stop if you need a rest
It isn’t a race and sure not a test
Also remember to take you a snack
Or you will get hungry when you start back

For those that went higher you paid your due
You topped the high hill you get the best view

Yes, there's always a choice. Those that are willing to embrace the struggle while going the extra mile- climb that higher hill, will be able to finish. Because of want to. :) It's okay to stop and rest every now and then. Many wonderful blessings to you, my sweet friend from Texas. :) Hugs, Brandy

Sara and I used to take walks in the Franklin Mts, outside of El Paso, Tx. Most people don't realize we have mountains in Texas. Thank you for reading and commenting on my poetry, Brandy. You are a special friend to me. Hugs, Bill

LOL, not an easy thing to do, CayCay. I used to visit friends in Ft. Lauderdale when I lived in Atlanta, didn't see many hills in Florida. Have a pleasant weekend my friend. Bill

Great, sage advice. Be wary of biting off more than one can chew -- but sometimes the reward is a lifetime of filling.

True, my friend. As we age, we need to make wise/saft choices concerning the paths we take. Blessings, Bill

Truly sound counsel indeed, dear Bill! A joyful lesson in verse, a sonnet to admire. At times, we tread a lofty path; at other times, we tread the humble way. Always the verdant pathway.

To get the best view, one has to climb the tallest hill. If you are looking for a little fun, choose the smaller hill. However, you have to do something to make your climb easy and more interesting. Very sound advice. This is equally an entertaining and instructive sonnet.

Great poem! Yes, we must practice with smaller hill, then push oneself to climb and get the greatest thrill. My thrill? Just being able to walk at all. Keeping sciatica at bay, but it is on my heels. Hugs :)

This year is the first time I've started to realize I can't just jump up and walk anywhere I want to go. Tough realization. Sorry to hear you're having to deal with the discomfort of sciatica ... my sister is dealing with that also. Have a pleasant weekend my friend. Bill

so inspirational, Bill, filled with wisdom. I remember reading one time that there are two ways to get to the top of the mountain--by tram or to scrap and crawl one's way to the top. The view is the same but not the same at all. Okay, enough said, hugs, me
