sails in the harbor

When you see a white sail in the harbor of Brest,
A sail under a burning sun,
It’s a nagging sail,
She has not the tranquility of a sail on the Nile,
Her mind is not at peace, her conscience torments her,
This sail flees life; it does not enjoy life,
So are most of the things we like
In This country.

Perhaps the white sail reminds you of surrender. "Cette voile fuit la vie, elle n’en profite pas" sounds so beautiful in French Yann.

So interesting. So are you a French poet as well, or do you translate french poems? (or maybe it's not French I am seeing)

May she choose to sail in quiet waters that give life, after this ordeal she needs to set sail in wholesome sea spaces, nice entry, gl dear Yann

Inner turmoil can spoil the best of experiences. I enjoyed the English version of your lovely poem, and practicing French with the second version, Yann. Thank you for sharing. :)

Dear Yaan, I don't know why you dislike seeing white sails in the sea. Probably you have some bad associations with them. Powerfully expressed.

Yann, most people I think are constantly fleeing life in their minds while they are supposed to be working at something. Thanks for sharing this revealing work with us. Sara K
