Idyllic isle enriched by sun and sea
The air so fresh; the ground all shades of green
Until the builders rape the virgin land
Spread a disease for which there’s no vaccine.

I am surrounded by that same thing here in Alberta where there are so many housing developments springing up all over to accommodate the people moving here. Where there used to be beautiful farm land and forests there are now shopping malls, housing developments, schools, etc. We are "improving" ourselves into extinction. Well said. So much beautiful farm land being lost to spreading house building. New neighborhoods popping up where once cattle and horses were raised. My beautiful little small town becoming a big city. As a child I lived in a windmill out in the country surrounded by fields and nature's gifts.
