Idyllic isle enriched by sun and sea The air so fresh; the ground all shades of green Until the builders rape the virgin land Spread a disease for which there’s no vaccine. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Hi Brenda!! Thank you for the comments. A pleasure to have you visiting my humble abode! It's been a while since our paths crossed, but these past months I have not been very active on Soup due to other important priorities. I will come see what you've been posting; I know I won't be disappointed! ~ Warm regards // paul

Great message in this one, Paul. They say, "the love of money is the root of all evil." Greed is destroying our planet. Thanks for writing on such an important topic, my friend. Bill

Thank you Bill. Building outside ODZ areas is against the law (for us minnows) but no problem for rich developers :( ~ Best regards my friend // paul

I miss ye olde days Paul but as the USA takes in 5,000 new poeple a day. Homes must be built and whatever else is needed. Whether forest or city, itts an attack on beauty…i waslucky enough to be born when the USA was beautiful. Better yet, people were sane, had inyegrity and a sense of aetheticism! Your friend,…Pangie

Thank you Pangie for contributing and adding on to the message implied in my short poem. The world is changing fast, detrimental to what we had and will never have again! ~ Best regards my friend // paul

Oh I do so agree Paul. There is so much building going on around here that I just hate it. The beautiful pastures are giving way to "progress and growth". Soon the wild life will have no where to go. It's awful. God Bless and Merry Christmas. JB

Oh I do so agree Paul. I am surrounded by that same thing here in Alberta where there are so many housing developments springing up all over to accommodate the people moving here. Where there used to be beautiful farm land and forests there are now shopping malls, housing developments, schools, etc. We are "improving" ourselves into extinction. Well said. God Bless, JB

I like your "improving ourselves into extinction" Judy! Earth, nature, etc were created for us to make good use of, and not to destroy. Unfortunately those who have the power to stop the rot are the ones mostly to blame! ~ Regards & blessings // paul

Thank you, Andrea. Before I used to live in a small village surrounded by countryside; now my village and adjacent ones are encroaching on one another :( Regards // paul

short, bite size poem with a big message. I'm always sad when I think about idyllic isles being overrun with destructive construction, etc. You've stated it well. Have a pleasant evening, Sara

Thank you, Sara for your insightful comments. The small island where I live is getting overbuilt; we've been taken over by greedy developers :( Regards // paul

Oh I do so agree my friend. There is so much building going on here in Airdrie and Calgary, Alberta that it saddens me. So much beautiful farm land being lost to spreading house building. New neighborhoods popping up where once cattle and horses were raised. My beautiful little small town becoming a big city. I so want to move. Good stuff my friend. God Bless, JB

And I agree with you as well, Judy. As a child I lived in a windmill out in the country surrounded by fields and nature's gifts. Now buildings and roads have encroached from all sides...the windmill is suffocating...my heart aches :( Thank you for your contribution to my humble thoughts. Blessings // paul
