Meaning of love

The last rays of the sun
Kissed his forehead,
as he lay on the bench,
his head snuggled on her lap,
whilst she sang a sweet lullaby,
as clear as the crystal breeze,
as soothing as a mother's kiss.
She cuddled him softly,
kissed his luscious lips,
ran her fingers through his curly hair,
and caressed him long and sweet.

A soft rain of rose petals
saturated his nostrils
with ecstatic musk.
He slept like a newborn babe
dreaming of magical lands.
He knew that on waking,
he would be hers again forever
since she meant everything to him.
She knew the feeling full well.

Her heart was singing in rhythmic harmony.
She prepared for eternity's loving embrace.
Is this what love really was?

Very lovely poetry. It felt like a mother's love until I got down a bit to the kissing part. Is she dying at the end? This does sound like profound love indeed

"ran her fingers through his curly hair, and caressed him long and sweet." Yep, that explains it...off to buy a hair-piece. Thank you, Victor. Another gem of a write my friend. Yes, love is being compelled beyond sentient reason.
