I seek, I grow, I rise
From deep ancestral roots
Pulsating through the veins of time
Composted in truths

From deep ancestral roots
A fidelity I keep
Composted in truths
To carry on their legacy

A fidelity I keep
Nurtured with a vision
To carry on their legacy
For generations yet to come

Nurtured with a vision
Committed to a lineage of hope
To carry on their legacy
I seek, I grow, I rise.

For centuries, saplings have grown through adversity, rising to majestic heights. Our families, like trees, rooted themselves in America, optimistic for the promise of opportunity. They came with hopes and manifested their dreams. Their accomplishments, our gift, a legacy that we too, must nurture and carry on.

the depth is amazing and beautifully delivered line by line...altho i like the wordplay it is the deepest depth that warms my soul...faithfulness, the continued loyalty no matter the tempests appear....in this day and age they crudely say, i have your six...i prefer: i am at your side, hand in hand....bring on the dragons...

some poems enable us to walk with the poet others enable neuropathways to walk the road not seen...poems that deepen what is beneath....as Michaelangelo said, the sculptor merely removes the patina down to what was already there..Shakespeare accomplishes this many times, double-edged swords, the sub rosa poet

wow, this is a superb way to address the pantoum challenge, Paulette. It also makes me think of native americans for some reason! I guess for the way you relate it to trees and nature.

I find strength both in your metaphoric message and the still thriving trees that far outlive man Paulette. This a an inspiration. If for a contest, I see it as a winner. Blessings xxoo

Thank you so much for your kind and complimentary comment. And, yes, indeed trees thrive beyond human life, but the legacy we leave, hopefully continues to grow. Blessings, Paulette

Wonderful metaphor for enduring families of deep roots that, like redwood tress, form a circle of life. Beautifully written in elegant simplicity - seeing the forest with the trees and the trees with the forest. Blessings!
