New Contest - Jared Pickett's Blog

This time around I am combining three different forms to create one poem...
This is going to be my most difficult contest yet....... The three forms are, in this order: Trois Par Huit--Tanka--Rondel.....

Trois Par Huit:
A poem containing three stanzas of 3,3,and 2 lines OR 3,2, and 3 lines: eight lines total with a syllable count of 3,6,9,12,12,9,6,3.. The rhyming pattern is AAB BBC CC....

Tanka:
Is a classic form of Japanese poetry related to the Haiku with five un-rhymed lines of 5,7,5,7,7... *** In your poem though I would prefer this Tanka to rhyme in the two lines of 5.... Rhyme the lines of 5 with the A refrain of the Rondel and the double A in the Trois Par Huit****

Rondel:
A French form consisting of 13 lines: Two quatrains and a quintet, rhyming is as follows: ABba abAB abbaA....

Remember, I want the ( A ) in the Trios Par Huit and the
( A ) in the Rondel, as well as the ( 5 ) in the Tanka to rhyme... This WILL be what I look for when choosing my winners... Please follow my instructions.....

Of course I want you to enjoy the passion of writing poetry... It is not my intention to make my contest feel like a statistics class in college... My intention is to see if my followers can write a poem using three different forms and tweek it to create something new and never before seen.... I am all about forms... If this is to much pass on it and submit one for my next contest.... All three forms in one, not a choice of one of the three....
