the place of lore, part one

by

the place she has been waiting is a place of lore. born in a previous life full of gore. a garden cultivated with decomposition and internal rage, carnage and shame.
but in the middle of this garden stands a tree, formerly, or potentially it is a willow tree, depending on your constitution. and though it has no leaves it bares a tire swing that can reach the constellations.
this is where he finds her under The Archer. Once he is able to speak he asks her "don't you have anything to say to me?"
she retorts "Where have you been, for starters". She tells him about coming to this place, after the event, after her drowning. Tells him how insects were her only friends and all day long she can hear alarms sounding
they were warning the land that she had arrived, mistaking her for the queen of evil. but she had no desire to maim people. She spent some time talking to a catterpillar named Murry to explain her situation, but he soon turned into a moth and headed for the light.
she spent some time with a black widow spider named jane, that experience left her changed. Nothing will ever be the same.
she finally met a crow, who was feasting on her remaining pals, he had no name so she called him Hal.
the more she spoke of the encounters in her empty garden, the more the willow tree began to shake.
when finally the boy cries "I Can see the sun break!" and little blossoms sprouted all along the scraggly branches. all the insects came out and did little dances.
"What is happening to my brooding garden" She thinks. "this boy comes along and suddenly this old tree sings me a song?"
she looks him square in the eye. "You dare to bring me happiness? You dare to bring this place joy? be aware, If i let these wild things grow, and one day you're a no-show, its the crow for you. VInes, they like to strangle, and roses, well they have thorns, and these mushrooms are poisonous and these apples might hit you on your head"
The boy laughs for the first time since he was 14 and tells her he has no fear left in him. now that he is free of the shackles of his past. he is here to make love last.
