The Gem

Being a lone star in Houston, Samantha still was a maiden looking to do some claiming but never found any nuggets. Coming off a boat in her fashionable friendly swimwear that could double as a casual dining ensemble she looked back on the dock.

“She was right that was Cecilia’s gem,” Samantha said under her breath about Rikki’s gift to her best friend.

Making her way to the bait shop wearing sneakers that seemed to of been through a war zone. Opening the door and then greeted by the proprietor, “Rose Laurie, good morning.”

“Where have you been all night?” Rose asked putting a worm on a hook so it could be sold to an amateur fishing person.

“Took Cecilia out on her gem,” Samantha took a seat on the swivel chair that was at the counter, “she really wanted to sail into the sunset, so,”

“So?” Another worm suddenly saw God for the purpose of making money.

“You know how she always fantasized about a tiger?”

“Yeah,” Rose broke into one of those smiles as another worm faced judgment day

Then suddenly one of Houston’s finest stopped into the eatery, “Sheriff, what can I do for you?”

“Well Rose, we got a report that, your best friend Cecilia went missing last night. I see the gem is in its slip,”

Looking at Rose who was retreating into the kitchen Samantha decided to say something, “Yes, Sheriff she wanted to sail into the sunset, so I took her out.”

“And?”

Seeing the tension mount Rose noticed the weather report, “There is no relief in sight for this heat,” Rose acting mature claimed.

Later that day while Samantha was doing some touch up cleaning to “The Gem” when she heard a speed boat roar as it pulled into the marina. “Hey BFF,” there was a bikini top blonde wearing a necklace featuring a tiger bone.

“I said your dreamin tiger!” The voice shouted and Samantha could not even ask the question ‘where Cecilia got that speed boat’ before her BFF showed what a wake looked like in Texas.
