The Crow Bar

Adult life was filled with paradise privileges for Oleksandra as good fortune led the cover girl to a Treasure Island in the middle of nowhere surrounded by water. She had literally forgot her youthful days of running around the Ukrainian village she called home. Having a self-centered attitude that could be described as ‘a little bit me’ the maturity level could take the attractive blonde down a lonely path or open adventurous doors.

But all things changed one night when two countries free from the cold war socially interacted with each other leaving a mysterious result that complemented the world’s violent times.

After meeting two boys from Lithuania who were looking for a fun experience but did not have the proper currency Oleksandra joined a friend Morticia in a trip to the war cemetery with the guys. “These girls know best,” the two told each other at the bar after a few rounds.

While the darkness settled in for the night and only moonlight showed the way the four looking to have some adolescent play sat on a grave of a Ukrainian who died in battle. As Morticia spun the tale under the natural lighting the officer skated around the issues and the whole thing caught up with him. From out of blue someone attacked him after his military outfit finished practicing its maneuvers.

“One shot with a crowbar and he was gone to the heavens,” Morticia used a theatrical tongue and flashlight,

“A crowbar,” the two Lithuanian’s who were filled with spirits confirmed.

“Yes, a crowbar.”

As the hours past Oleksandra was not sure if it was the spirits that took control or just the need for sleep. But these two lads soon were in a resting in peace state which made the southern belles to make the decision to leave them in the ghostly haunt.

Years passed and the tantalizing tease was soon a distant memory while opportunities developed that resulted in Oleksandra’s life’s path settling in the middle of the Kentucky River isolated with a great mansion with a spa.

“Wasn’t life grand,” she thought to herself looking to the mainland that made up Franklin County.

When she entered her fantasy world housing the man who made this all possible stood with a glass filled with Buffalo Trace Whiskey. “Look who I had a meeting with today, honey.” And there stood two good looking men that seemed to be from the pages of a men’s fashion magazine. “Honey, these two have the best Vodka that I have ever tasted.”

Like a beautiful dream taking a major plot twist she stood in shock not knowing what to say, “they made the spread outside and it was good enough to pick up a few bucks,”

Continuing to be in a trance Oleksandra did not know what to say about the vision from the past. “They call their whole operation, “The Crowbar” and they have made a fortune in Ukraine, you know where you are from.”

Later in the evening when she was able to have a chat the two Lithuanian’s who explained to her that Morticia was a wonderful business person and set them up with some really nice connections, “and what about you Oleksandra, what have you been doing all this time?

“I became an American,”

“Did you get what you wanted?” The two Lithuanian’s inquired when there was an interruption from the other room stating, “Honey can you bring me some dessert?”

“Yes, I got whatever I wanted,” she replied leaving the room.
