Rain Day Diaries: The Month Ends part 3 of 3

24 April, XXXX

It's funny how the downpour seems heavier after the news that shocked the school. I didn't know Chad that well but he was still my cousin's boyfriend. I also feel for his family, it must have been hard for them to accept their son's death. I'm still having trouble with this because he's a schoolmate. There's not much that I can do but hope over time I'll feel less anxious.

A sad,

Jade

Dear Alex,

How have you been? It must be a great shock to find out about your boyfriend's passing. I hope that even with this knowledge, you'll not fall into a deep depression. Knowing you, however, you'll probably keep all of your emotions in. Please don't do that! If you need to talk, come to me or Jade.

From,

Cassie

Hi, Alex. I was wondering if you needed someone to talk to since Chad was found dead. I know you two were having trouble but that doesn't mean his death didn't affect you. Do let me know if you need to talk to me. I'm here to listen.

Hey, Jade. Look I know you're just trying to help but I'm fine. It sucks that Chad had to go that way but there's nothing that can be done about it.

Dear Cassie,

I've been fine, thank you for asking. I simply wish to mourn my boyfriend and move on with my life. It sounds awful but I'm okay with my life right now. Not counting the heavy rain mind you but I'm really fine. There is no need to worry about me so much that you have to suggest that I need to talk to someone.

From,

Alex

I've been feeling the need to write to Cassie. She usually blows things out of proportion but right now that is needed. Something doesn't feel right about Chad's sudden death and Alex's reaction. It feels like the weather is perfect for describing the unease I feel. When I get a chance I'm asking Cassie what she thinks about this whole thing. The two of us may find out what's fishy about this incident.

A weary,

Jade

Dear Cassie,

I know it has been a minute since we last talked to each other. We do hang out with different people. I feel like there's something wrong with Chad's sudden death. You know him better than I do; is there a way to figure out how he died? I get the feeling that it wasn't suicide. You're better at the whole coming up with theories thing. I'm only good at looking at the information I'm given. Tell me your thoughts on the matter and any info that comes to mind.

Jade

Even though Chad and Alex had problems I didn't think they would break up with one of them dying. I don't know what was going on with Chad, but he wasn't suicidal. At least he wasn't before his death. He just had the arrogance of a popular teenager. He wasn't the type who felt like no one understood him. Everyone knew what he was feeling because his "problems" were real. The last person who was with Chad was,...I think I should write back to Jade.

Dear Jade,

It's fine that we haven't written to each other lately. What does matter is that we are now. I have a thought that might have us lose a cousin. Alex was the last person with him. I know that Chad's death is written off as a suicide but I can't help but feel like it wasn't. Maybe you can visit Alex's room and see if she did something that is inhuman. As for me, I'll make sure she doesn't get home after school. It's been a while since we hung out.

Cassie

I can't believe it. She actually did it. I know that Alex was having trouble with Chad but I didn't think, how could she? Was it that bad that she...I can't even process this right now. I have to get to the police. This is going to be a long day.

A stressed out,

Jade

Police Report #xxxx

Today at 5:30 pm a high school girl, whose name shall not be disclosed, has come in and informed us that her male schoolmate that passed away on the 18th of April XXXX was not alone. His girlfriend was with him that night and that her diary should have evidence of a motive. She brought in a page of said diary with the girlfriend's handwriting. We, of course, compared her handwriting to the suicide victim's girlfriend's handwriting and the two are different. It was about time we checked in on the girlfriend anyway; so a visit to see how she is shouldn't be a problem.

________

30 April, XXXX

The police officer sits across from the female high school sophomore. He notices that the girl has a bored look on her face. He takes in the nice sitting area. The color scheme is nude with the carpeted floor being a red wine color. He takes a breath and starts to talk to the teenager.

"Miss Alex it has come to the police's attention that you were with Chad on the evening of the 18th of April?" the officer asks.

"I was," Alex said. It rains loudly outside as the conversation continues.

"Were you with Chad at the pier?"

"Why are you here, officer?" Alex looks directly at the officer for the first time.

"Originally, a cop was going to come by to see if you knew why Chad committed suicide. Now, however, it has been brought to our attention that what happened to Chad was done on purpose," the cop continues, "Miss Alex, someone came forward and said that you and Chad were having relationship problems. Is that true?"

"We were," says Alex.

"I'll ask you again; Were you with Chad on the pier?"

"Yes"

"Did you two fight?"

"No"

"Did Chad break up with you?"

"No"

"Will you go into more detail?"

"Are you going to take me in?"

"I have enough of a reason to extend our talk,"

"Don't bother, I'll tell you what happened. For little less than a year Chad and I have been having relationship problems, " she pauses as the cop takes out a voice recorder to get everything she says, "I was getting tired of him not taking me seriously. So on the 18th, I proposed that we have a date at the pier. He just went on and on about being a better boyfriend that I couldn't take it anymore. So when he tried to show off while standing on the wood safety bars, I helped him slip."

"Why would you do that?" the cop looks at the girl and sees that she doesn't regret the act.

"Because I can't have other girls touching what's mine; even if I'm going to throw it away," Alex smiles, "And that, officer, is why I had to murder my boyfriend."

The cop looks at the teenager as he stops the recorder. The rain going on outside picks up to become a storm. He has a murderer to take in.
