Perception and Perspective: Chapter Almost a Fairy Tale By Melissa Ann Hardin

Chapter Almost a Fairy Tale…Married with two children. I know…so romantic huh? After that it was move back in with the parents, both sets before settling in on his parents’ farm to raise our babies until we could afford a house of our own. But I could sit outside at night on the porch and it was often so silent you could hear the swish of a horse’s tail. The stars were an endless expanse of beauty above and the moonlight bathing the fields beyond were breathtaking. It was peaceful and I often miss the creak of the porch swing beneath my feet once the babies were fed, bathed, and sleeping quietly in the room we all shared. There was no window in our room and so sometimes I needed the fresh air, solitude, and silence the porch offered after long days of work, diapers, and toys. But oh how I miss rocking my babies in the safety of my arms at the end of those long days. My children were twenty months apart and they would be three and five when we decided to divorce after his many physical affairs, and my emotional one. We had bought our own house but it to would disappear in the twilight of our marriage, as if it never was.
