Lucky Turnover Meeting

There was a time when Monteleone was on a fast track and he was considered “The Italian Mountain Lion” using his starter allowance to invest in hotels that he purchased in Louisiana.

Late one afternoon while enjoying a French pastry Bert from the commonwealth department of emergency management approached him as he finished off the dessert. Seeing the business suit Monteleone pulled a quarter out of his pocket and started to flip it thinking he was a character in a movie.

“Flashy Kyem, what can I do for you?” Monteleone asked, “Are you here to tell me my strong numbers?”

“For one thing my name is not Kyem it is Bert,”

Geebert, I suppose you think you are a winner, right?” Monteleone replied.

“That one night in one of your hotels,” Bert honestly spoke, “yeah, I was a winner.”

“And you know I gave a thousand percent to this place and look,” Monteleone continued the conversation.

Nervously observing the atmosphere Bert took a stronger grip to his briefcase, “Monteleone, you are out of the money and your name no longer appears anywhere.”

Outstretching his arm Bert requested Monteleone to sit down, and that act was granted after the French pastry remains were disposed of in the garbage pail.

“Ben Salem the steward issued a general inquiry,” Bert reported about the claiming incident that happened during the day’s end, “and there has been an objection that the reason you are out of the money is everything runs for luck here which makes names disappear from the video screen.”

“I am a favorite and a winner,” Monteleone tried to stand up but quickly sat down, “get off my back.”

“That is what Ben Salem started the inquiry about and then the objection of interference in the stretch.”

“Stretch of what?” Monteleone casually raised his voice.

“The almighty dollar,”

“Just wait a second I am the Italian Mountain Lion,” Monteleone pulled a leather case from his suit pocket and opened a pen, “inky dinky do I will show you give this Ben Salem and tell him the inquiry is through.”

Being a loyal servant Ben folded the check, “Monteleone, is this poetic justice?”

“No Bert it’s a bribe.”
