First Day In School

‘wake –up Elsa. It’s already late.’ said Elsa’s mom .It was Elsa’s first day to school. Elsa, who was entering her 8th grade, got admission in a reputed school. Elsa saw the clock which showed 7.40 a.m. She hurriedly made all the arrangements to get ready to school. She ate her breakfast and when she was wearing her shoes, her school van came. Her mom gave her lunch box and waved her bye. Elsa took a seat in front row in the van. A girl, who is sitting next to Elsa, introduced herself as Tina. Elsa smiled and extended her hand of friendship. Tina and Elsa shared a lot of funny experiences and soon they reached at their new school. It was a lovely environment filled with beautiful trees and colorful buildings. Elsa was scanning every minute things while walking to the auditorium. It was fresher’s day celebration for new students. Tina and Elsa eagerly sat next to each other. The auditorium was decorated with balloons and other decorative glittering things.

The function started with a loud applause. Principal gave an introductory speech followed by speech of old students in grades 9th,10th,11th,12th. Elsa and Tina were so excited to hear a lot of information about their new school. After the function, snacks were provided to all the students. Mentor guided students to their respective classrooms. Tina and Elsa entered their new class with a lot of enthusiasm. The whole class greeted them. In the beginning, Elsa and Tina were nervous, but when time passes they be-friend everyone in the class. Both started liking their new school and new friends. Teacher entered the class and said ‘Good Morning students’. Everyone greeted her in chorus. Teacher asked everyone to introduce themselves and gave some introduction about academic schedule. Lunch bell rang. Elsa and Tina sat for having their lunch. Soon the rest of the class gathered around them and everyone shared their lunch. Elsa was overwhelmed by the friendliness of entire class. She thought it will take many days to be-friend all, but now within half-a-day everyone is behaving like they know each other since a long time. She liked her class mates very much and thought she was blessed to get an admission in a reputed school and that too with such lovely friends. After having their lunch, all chattered and cracked jokes.

Afternoon hours other subject teachers came and gave introduction about their respective subjects. Elsa felt that even her teachers were kind-hearted and supportive. Last one hour before the class commences, teacher asked the students to exhibit their talents. At first nobody came out. But as teacher encouraged, Elsa gathered courage and sang a song in front of the class. When she completed singing her last line, the entire class was filled with the sound of applause. Teacher shook hands with Elsa and encouraged others to come forward. Next Tina came and drew pictures of animals in the board. Everyone appreciated her skills. Elsa said to Tina , ‘I never knew that you would draw this much beautifully’ .Tina said ‘I also never thought that you would sing in such a sweet voice’. Both had a hearty laugh. Soon other students exhibited their talents and got appreciation from teacher. Teacher was much delighted to see that her students were so much talented in many skills. Finally teacher said ‘students, be prepared for your regular classes tomorrow. Books will be issued tomorrow before class starts. Keep this enthusiasm forever and excel in studies and your skills ’. The school bell rang and everyone waved bye and happily ran to the van to share their first school day experience with their family.

Elsa waved bye to Tina and walked to her home. Elsa wished that her every day in school should go like her first day. I believe that it is also the wish of all of us in our first day to school.
