A Mall Magical Feat

Somewhere underneath the blinding bright outlet store spotlights two entrepreneurs Dillard and Nordstrom were lunching together in the food court.

“I let the classic knicks go collection, yesterday,” Nordstrom informed, “keeping it brief fruit of the loom does much better.”

“Well, you really did not need them,” Dillard replied, “you have a nice rack.”

“Dillard you are right,” Nordstrom added stretching her back, “life is good in that department, and we got another shipment from CeCe.”

“Yeah, I know we just got our new CeCe order in the other day,” Dillard mentioned.

Suddenly, a musical ring tone played, and they both reached for their own communication device, “ah mine,” Dillard proclaimed, “Aloha West,” Dillard continued talking into the rectangular machine, “he is my golden pal,” Dillard gestured towards her friendly colleague, “distributor in Hawaii.”

Sitting back Nordstrom listened to only one side of the conversation, “I know she loves only you, but did she buy the product?” Dillard gritted her teeth, “what do you mean she bought it from Nordstrom, they are our fierce competitor.”

Checking her Longines watch Nordstrom stood up knowing it was time to go, “I need to get back to work,” she made a voiceless lip style comment, “I need to make space, blues records are going to be delivered this afternoon.”

Giving a wave Dillard continued listening doing business in another state and Nordstrom headed north to her anchor position in the indoor shopping center.

Once she arrived her superior handed a legal pad and pointed outside making an autograph signature motion with his hands. Grabbing a coat Nordstrom proceeded outside and noticed a truck backing up. Once the screeching stopped and lights turned off a small person stepped out from the cab.

“I am Sam Goody,” he shouted, “I have your shipment of blues records, red and white ones,” the little man winked as Nordstrom placed the receipt underneath the yellow sheets of paper.

After realizing the coast was clear Sam Goody looked both ways, “Nordstrom, I am not your regular delivery person,”

“I know,” she answered in a timid voice, “I am a Yibir a soothsayer from Somalia,”

“A what from what?”

“I am a Somalian magician and I want to bring some excitement to this five and dime operation,” Sam Goody explained, “do you have a quarter?”

“Won’t a nickel or dime work?” Nordstrom innocently inquired,

“No, this is not a five and dime operation Nordstrom,” Sam Goody exclaimed knowing her rack was worth a pretty penny, “I need a quarter.”

Finding a twenty-five-cent piece in her jeans Nordstrom gave it to Sam Goody. Taking the coin, he did something a performer dependent on deception would do and inside the ladies’ section a French marching band appeared playing Marche Lorraine. All the commotion created a crowd and during the distraction Sam Goody revealed the true item needed to be displayed on the racks.

“French Knickers A Go Go,” Nordstrom screamed, “they are so much better then Fruit of the Loom.”

When things were starting to close Nordstrom grabbed a croissant before heading out to the parking lot where she bumped into Dillard.

“I heard a French Marching Band played inside your store today?” Dillard excitedly asked.

“Yes, we launched the new lingerie line French Knickers A Go Go,” Nordstrom answered, “and we couldn’t keep them on the rack.”

Dillard stopped in her tracks, “did a guy named Sam Goody claim to be a Somalian magician?”

“Yes, why?” Nordstrom replied.

“He used to work in costuming at the French theater in the village,” Dillard reported, “and the FBI were looking for a way to retrieve stolen goods.”

Nordstrom gave Dillard a strange look, “I was just kidding.” Dillard laughed dialing a number on her cell phone, “Aloha West, yes you can go down to Victoria Secret, you have my shipping address and credit card.”
