Going through two years of junior, it taught me a lot about myself, how I can handle it, ... You have to worry about hockey. Handle stuff outside of that when you need to, but just worry about hockey. That's what I learned.
We're just playing pretty solid hockey right now and not making too many big mistakes. Five on five, we're making it really tough for teams to play us. We're skating, and we're not giving them a lot of opportunities in our end, for the most part. We have to continue to play like that.
I think it's kind of getting old talking about it, to be honest with you. It's something where we just have to play hockey and not worry about the officials, who we have total confidence in.
It was fun, ... I just got back from junior camp, so to go from there to skating today was a big jump. But I found myself getting better after just an hour and a half.
I didn't anticipate anything ââ?¬â? I was just showing up and seeing what the town and people were about, but it was a very welcoming sight. I'm sure the energy and excitement in town are going to rub off on the players. It's nice to see everybody's so excited about getting hockey started.
This is what I'm here to do and I'm very excited, ... It's been busy, busier than normal with the lottery and the draft, so it's going to be nice to get into a routine and get on the ice every day. That's the fun part.
The defensemen went down and got out of position. So then the goalie had no choice but to play the shot so I knew Mark had an open shot. I gave him a quick look and got him the puck.
As of right now, go back to junior, the WHA or Europe. I guess those are the three main options, and who knows if other leagues are going to form, or what's going to happen if there is no season again... I haven't really given it a whole lot of thought. That's something that I'm going to decide after the season is over - what's best for me.
With Palffy and Gonchar, those are some real offensive players, ... It should be a fun team to watch, definitely.
Some guy was just yelling at me. It wasn't the first time. I'm not going out there to start something with a fan by any means, not at all. But it gets to the point where some of the things they say cross the line. Trust me, I don't usually talk to fans.
Oh yeah, I noticed it. Everyone was standing up. He's a great player. I watched that playoff run.
That's probably the highlight of my career. I scored a couple goals, it was a fun game. We made some great plays, some fun plays. That sticks out in my mind.
I don't think we're overjoyed. Wins are expected, and that's the way it needs to be. I don't think we're up on Cloud Nine. It's a great win and we will not take anything away from it, but we have a lot of games left and we have to take the good things from this game and carry them on.
I saw Whitney break his stick and they had a 2-on-2, but there was a guy going to the net and (Whitney) didn't have a stick to stop the pass. I yelled his name and got my stick to him the best way I could. I wasn't sure if they were going to call a penalty but I was just trying to save a goal because I knew the pass was going to get to him.
I want to be the best, so whatever comes with that I have to accept, ... I don't think there was ever a time where I stepped back and said 'I wish I was doing something different.'
I was disappointed because I knew it was close, that I was in the mix. I have to realize it's up to me to earn another chance, though you don't know what's four years down the road. I still love getting up and going to the rink. I'm living my dream. I'm not taking anything for granted.
They've been unbelievable. We've had some ups and downs -- probably a lot more downs -- and they've been there throughout it all to support us.
We believe in a lot of the same things. I'm interested to learn about anything, any way I can improve myself. And I think it's a two-way thing where he's trying to find things that interest the players and make it fun for them to improve.
It was a tough break for us, but I don't know if we deserved to win that one anyway. Jocelyn kept us in it. It's good to get one point out of it but at the same time I don't think we deserved to win.
We didn't give up. We tried to keep coming, and we got a bounce on Roy's goal.
I'm happy to go everywhere, ... I know the history of that building, but every place is fun to go to right now. It's all new.
I feel comfortable, ... I'm definitely feeling challenged but with each day I gain more experience. I'm just trying to improve each day.
It seems longer. It's never easy losing. For us, it makes us realize how tough it is, especially against the best team in the league. That was probably one of the biggest challenges we've had.
[There were no tags on the bag that identified it as Troy Crosby's, but an attached baggage claim tag bore his name.] Someone saw my name on that (claim tag), ... They took a look inside and hit the jackpot.
You can't give up. You've got to keep battling to the end. Winning is a habit. You can't accept losing. Losing is a bad habit to accept.
I'm not really thinking about it right now, ... I want to come and play in the NHL next year. That's my goal, that's my focus right now. I'm going to put everything into that and try to move on from there.
It's not easy to watch the game at home on TV.
Sometimes you kind of tune it out because he's talking so much.
