Not to get super personal, but I suffer from depression. I was diagnosed with it at a very young age. I’m at a point right now in my life where I’m the happiest I’ve ever been, I’ve lost a lot a weight (65 ish pounds, no longer at risk of having diabetes!) and I’m graduating with my bachelors degree in the fall later this year. All that being said, I feel like I have taken back my life, and writing poems about my condition significantly helps me preform better throughout the week. If you suffer from any kind of condition, whether mental or physical, I encourage you to write a new poem about it. Growing up I viewed my depression as a weakness. Now, it has become a suit of armor, and I have become one with it.
Write a *new* poem. Poems on themes of redemption, hope, sacrifice, empathy, and sadness are also acceptable.
If you have questions, soup mail is available and I will respond asap.
Do not submit anything political or religious.
