Notes About The Poem

4/4/2026 for Venting or Redemption Poetry Contest sponsored by Seth Pina

Faces and Masks

Oh yes, I still remember you.
You taught me about the blues
and everything that's true -
that life is just to lose.

I savor my identity,
I'm a loser, not a fake.
But, for you, I'd never see -
though, credit you won't take.

From here until eternity,
It's with ecstasy, not shame,
that I know with certainty,
you'll never call me by my name.

Some enjoy a masquerade,
Some like to pretend,
and live within the parts they play
until the very end.
