Contest Description

What to Submit?

For this contest, there are only three topics to choose from. I do not want poems about what your religion has taught you, or about what your Holy Scriptures say. I believe there is one God, and he may, MAY be known to different cultures by different names. One God. Iwant to see if life has taught you anything. Here are the topics I will accept:

1.) Absolute Truth -

There is truth, and there is Absolute Truth. Red IS red, and blue IS blue, but that is a very shallow and superficial understanding of the truth. I want to see if you have any understanding of how to discover the Absolute Truth. Because until mankind learns to discover the Absolute Truth he will go on with his self-righteous, imagined superiority, hurting, maiming and murdering his brothers and sisters. This topic must be titled, Absolute Truth.

2.) Judgment -

For this topic, you must put aside everything you think you know about God. For this topic, imagine, just for the purposes of this poem, YOU are God, on Judgment Day, but you are ONLY allowed to judge your own children. That's right, the ones you and your mate brought to this Earth. How many would you condemn to an eternity in Hell's fire, and why. This topic must be titled, Judgment.

3.) Lies -

What is a lie? Is it as shallow as voicing something which is inconsistent with what your eyes and ears have shown you to be the facts. Do you imagine that those who sit in their silence, not letting falseness pass their lips (they should know the Absolute Truth before being that self-righteous.) are being truthful?  What of those who, in their silence, imagining themselves to highly value truth, are living a lie, living right in the middle of dishonesty? This topic must be titled, Lies.

Your poem must be on these topics only. You may choose one, two or all topics to cover in your poem. If you choose all topics, your title must be Absolute Truth, Judgment and Lies.

New poems only.

No names or initials on the poem.

Please date your poem.

Those who show the greatest understanding of the active Soul will receive the higher placement.

For inspiration I would like to give you a quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson : "The one thing in the world, of value, is the active Soul. This, every man is entitled to, this, every man contains within him, although in almost all men it is obstructed and unborn...it is not the privilege of a favorite, but the sound estate of every man, and in it's principal, progressive."

Any form is acceptable.
