Where do poets stand on continuous postings of hatred towards LGBTQIA+ community

It looks like the poetry soup team have acted on this.

The poet in question is still posting offensive targeted poetry towards people of certain life styles. Granted, people's opinions vary on this. But individuals SHOULD NOT be attacked. Can this person not put themselves in the shoes of the group he targets? How would he feel if he couldn't help his tendencies and was basically being attacked?? There is expression of opinion and there is bullying.... and this individual is presenting as a bully and it needs to stop!

An example: What kind of nasty thing is happening in the world? I don’t want to hear anything about homosexuals and lesbians. Keep your homosexual business and your lesbian business to yourselves. Father God didn’t make men to have sex with men, Neither did He make women to have sex with women. Let us speak in opposition to all nasty homosexuals, And let us strongly denounce all nasty lesbians. Blaze a fire for the nasty boys who are fondling men’s anuses. And blaze another fire for the nasty girls who are fondling women’s genitals. I don’t care who is offended when I speak the truth. I say divine destruction, brimstone, and fire for all of them!

I've not seen the poems you mention; perhaps you could report the offensive poems to poetry soup admin?

What happened to respecting others, ? its a sad world we live in Alison. Cowards who spout their venom from behind a keyboard are the lowest form of life, I wouldn't give them the time of day. I didn't see the poems you wrote about but there's a feature on here that allows you to report them. Tom

I think these type of poems should be reported and not tolerated. I haven't seen any posted lately.

I find such things to be insensitive. I do not respond to these types of poems. I hope I never have. I used to be an ESL teacher and it made me angry when a student in my class would use negative statements against gays. I would stop them and say, " it is very possible a gay person is here in this room with you and you are causing them hurt." Years later a gay man (who I would never have taken for one) messaged me on FB to thank me for what I said that day. We never know who we may be hurting with certain things we say. This includes our poetry. We do have free speech. I think we should be able to express our opinions on government and things that are controversial. At the same time, we should not use name calling or try to humiliate those we disagree with.

We regularly have poets here who post hate rants about Jews and political figures so it’s nothing new. I don’t know who the alleged perp is but if it bothers you just ignore them.
