Andrea Dietrich Biography

Andrea Dietrich grew up in Iowa and now resides in Utah with a spouse and two cats. She has two grown children and six grandchildren. Having graduated BYU with a Spanish major/ESL minor, she has spent most of her adult life teaching. It wasn't until 2000 that she began writing in earnest and discovering her "niche" as a writer of lyrical poetry. The internet opened up a new world for her, and she has spent two decades now participating in poetry clubs, acting as a judge of poetry contests for various magazines, for the website Shadow Poetry, and for Poetry Soup.

Ms. Dietrich has won numerous awards, as well as the title Poet of the Year 2008, from the Yahoo group, Poetry For Thought. In addition, she has won prizes from the magazines Lucidity, Bell's Letters, Art with Words, Poets at Work and SP Quill, the magazine for which she wrote grammar and poetry articles as well as movie reviews and for which she acted as poetry editor for the head editor Marie Summers for six years. Many of her poems appeared in Shadows Ink, a yearly published series of chapbooks of award winning poetry as well as in numerous other anthologies. Her short stories appeared in many issues of SP Quill and much of her poetry was published in eight chapbooks (no longer sold online).

Since coming to Poetry Soup, Ms. Dietrich has been both contest sponsor and winner of numerous contests. In 2010, her poem "Cinder Girl" was first place winner of Soup's International contest (these contests are no longer held).  A song was created from her lyrics "Honeymoon Serenade" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WDWxc4cpHDc) and two movies have been made featuring the poetry of Andrea Dietrich: "A Tale of Fire and Ice" (a 4 min. Z-Film Fest Project, 2014) and the full length movie "Six Days of Sistine" in which 20 poems of Ms. Dietrichs serve as the thoughts of two characters played by Jamie Campbell Bower and Elarica Johnson (directed by Richard J. Perry, 2019) https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7710360/

I must admit, I really have to force myself to eat veggies - they are not my first choice! Fruit, on the other hand, I LOVE. Apples, clementines, grapes, canteloupe, blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, bananas... I love them ALL! :)

you may be a carb addict, andrea, because you like all the sweetish, starchy things like corn and potatoes, but I'm intrigued about this blood type diet thing, only trouble is, I have no idea what my blood group is! I forgot to say I also detest leeks, but I like most fruit, though, given the choice, I'd go for chocolate over fruit any day! haha

I don't know if the negative or positive has much to do with it, Ruben. Anyway, aren't you from Argentina? that means you had PRIME BEEF, which is best meat for O's!!

you got it, charlotte. I was brought up in a big family where our big Sunday night delight was popcorn , a huge bowl of it for us all to dig into during Bonanza on tv! O blood types are the protein people. So when I eat a reasonable amount of greens plus lots of protein, I am fit as a fiddle!! Find out your blood type and I will tell you the "offensive" foods for you.

You would be easy to have round for a meal then Andy, fresh corn on the cob and baked potatoes followed by cherries and cream xx

ps not a fruit eater as such unless its of the tree or bush in front of me, I dislike biscuits and cake unless its a slice of Parkin with a slice of cheese to help it down xx

Speak of the devil, I just finished boiling an entire head of cabbage (to be followed by well seasoned, baked-to-near-burnt pork chops) Four slices bacon til crisp dump in immeasurable amounts of garlic and chopped bell peppers, saute, then 3 cups water, add cabbage and boogie down...also, all rednecks are required to like collards...same recipe as above only add one monstous sliced onion...like both with a touch of cider vinegar...Salad: Asparagus, tomato, onion and avacado soaked in balsamic vinegar (Ahhh...what's for desert?) And hold the fruit please...

Tim i understand what you mean seeing what you have in the cupboard.Cooking is art for.those.who.love.it.I lpve.it ;)

funny you mention coleslaw. I can actually tolerate it. my mom put mini marshmallows and pineapple tidbits in it. Actually, I am ok not to like brussel sprouts, cabbage and other similar ones. they are against the O blood type. My book tells me NOT to eat them. That makes me happy that my body was naturally following that rule!!

Re veggies we could have been twin sisters..I do love to make hot delicious pumpkin soup too.I love tomatoes..i count them as veg even though they re considered fruit.Re fruit i love them all..My favourite winter fruit are bananas whilsr my least favourite are apples..maybe cos i was forced to eat ut when i was young. The only apples i manage to eat are very red skinned apples..other than that they d have to be bouled and mixed with nutmeg..cinnamon and walnuts.Re summer fruit my favourite is water melon ..following strawberries. My least favourite are peaches..but I do love fruit and always take a good portion a day')

yes, there is nothing like a good watermelon. Don't you hate getting home from the market to discover you have bought a BAD one?
Date: 3/2/2013 1:33:00 PM
i love a crisp apple with cheddar cheese. Guess i eat more fruit than veg. I adore grapes and fresh pineapple, love grapefruit but not allowed to eat it .and fresh dates i would die for ...Seren

These all sound nice, Seren. I just don't gravitate toward them in the day. I just grab for the carb, meat or cheese and only take the fruit if it's all that there is to eat!
