Monterey Sirak Biography

I retired from a nursing career to live a simple life in the country and write. I self
published my first book of poetry, The River of Liquid Dreams. Small presses published two more, In The Presence of Shadows, and Faith Like A Dandelion. I had the honor of having one of my poems recited in a documentary produced by the Canadian Institute on Child Health, The Healing Journey. I give poetry readings and judge performance poetry competitions.

I received some absolutely amazing poetry on the sounds of color! All of the entries were stunning and it was hard to narrow it down. Even though it was hard to judge, I received such pleasure from the contest, Thank you to all who entered, (please excuse all the commas, my period doesn't seem to be working), I was hoping to have names for all the poems at the finish to thank everyone personally for their poems, but I guess the way I judged didn't allow it, I will learn as I go on,

I am so glad to be a part of this creative and loving community here at the soup

Thank you so very much for my placement in you contest Monterey... To be honest I was a little worried that you might be offended because I didn't take the serious angle but it just popped into my brain (what little is left) so I entered...Once again, thanks and congrats to all the other winners!

I will have to look at your page to see which one was yours. I guess I had an oops moment while judging, and at the end I couldn't get all the names. Glad you enjoyed it. It was all for the fun of creating.

Thanks, my brain is churning along trying to think up a new contest. The poets here are so creative and talented. You all took my idea and flew away with it, creating magic I never imagined.

Monterey, as I was seeing some of the entries to your contest being displayed at Soup, I felt jealous of you having such an awesome contest.It must have been pure pleasure to be seeing those kinds of poems in your judging area! thanks for my placement. I got inspired when I was reading some of the poetry being written for this unique contest of yours. Congrats to them all. I am looking forward to reading the winners' list.

Reading the entries was pure joy for me. I may have to listen closer to the grandkids, since my grandson's remark inspired the contest. (out of the mouths of babes!)
